Reya's Story

Reya's grandmother is unable to take care of her two little grandchildren, Reya and her brother Ruppom. It was so hard that her daughter-in-law abandoned her family. They went to look for the mother (Sokhina) to bring her home back to her kids; but she was not willing to come back to the husband's home. She had started a relationship with a different man. As they are very poor and live in a remote area it is hard for them to keep these two little kids. In the grandmother's old age she is unable to care for the kids. They were going through such pain and were desperate for help. She looked for an organization who could take the kids and give them a better life. Finally they came to know about Bangla Hope and applied for the children to be taken into the Bangla Hope family. It is so surprising that a mother could forget her own children. At this point, I remember the Bible text: Isaiah 49:15 "Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you!"
